Top Questions from Our Brides & Grooms: Everything You Need to Know
Planning your big day at Carr Bank Wedding Venue is exciting, but we know you may have some important questions along the way. To make your planning journey smoother, we’ve gathered the top questions we receive from brides and grooms, along with helpful answers to guide you.
1. Where do I hold my bouquet?
When walking down the aisle, hold your bouquet low, around your waist or "lady garden" area. This helps create a relaxed, graceful look that photographs beautifully.
2. When should I have my hair and makeup done?
We recommend not being the first person to get your hair and makeup done, as you don’t want to be sitting too long before the ceremony. However, avoid being last, just in case things run late. Your bridesmaids can finish up while you meet with the registrars, giving everyone enough time.
3. What comes first: the first dance or the father-daughter dance?
Traditionally, the father-daughter dance would come first, symbolizing the father giving his daughter away. However, many modern couples opt to have their first dance as a couple first, followed by a special dance with the father.
4. Do I need to direct my guests during the day?
No, that’s what we’re here for! As your wedding coordinator, we’ll make sure your guests know when to be seated for the ceremony, the wedding breakfast, and when the evening events will start. We’ll also keep the bride informed about the arrival of the registrars, when it’s time to get ready, and when it’s clear to come down.
5. What time can I arrive on the morning of the wedding?
The bridal suite will be ready for you and your bridal party from 11 a.m. This allows you plenty of time to relax and prepare before the ceremony.
6. When can guests check into their rooms?
Guests can check in from 2 p.m. onwards, giving them ample time to freshen up and get ready before the celebrations begin.
7. Which side should the flowers be on the suit lapel?
The boutonnière, or lapel flower, is traditionally placed on the left side of the suit. For men, it should be positioned upright, while for women, it's typically placed upside down.
8. Are pets allowed at the venue?
Yes! Pets are welcome for the ceremony and photos. However, once food is being served, we kindly ask that pets be taken home.
9. When should my guests arrive before the wedding?
Guests should aim to arrive an hour before the ceremony to ensure they are seated and ready on time.
10. Do you cater to same-sex weddings?
Absolutely! We are proud to host weddings for all couples. Love is love, and we are honored to be a part of your special day.
